Large numbers of university students in Iran held protest rallies on Tuesday, in solidarity with striking workers, as well as jailed students and teachers.
These protests came just ahead of Iran’s Student Day (December 7), which marks the anniversary of the 1953 murder of three Tehran University students by the Shah’s police.
Jeanne Manford (1920-2013) was
an LGBT rights activist. Although not queer herself, she supported her gay son
in a tumultuous time for the LGBT community, and helped numerous others obtain
acceptance and rights.
She participated in the 1972 Pride March in
New York supporting her son, and the sign she was carrying inspired the
creation of PFLAG – Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays. She was
posthumously awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal for her activism.
Canadian posties have been under the pressure of statist liberals since trying to better their working conditions. Liberals have already threatened workers who were running strikes, blockades, and occupations with legislation & economic pressure. Following that, people on the outside (non-workers) have been showing solidarity by blocking the state business from making money. I think their experiences show why no one short of the workers themselves should own the means of production.
However, combatting the Canadian goverment means state repression, and in Halifax six of our comrades have been arrested.
From a fellow worker who emailed me recently stated,
“If you can donate or even share this link further, that
would help me deal with my feelings of being forever indebted to these people
(and everyone else who continues to cause trouble when I’m no longer legally
allowed).“
This technique is similar to that of artist Bob Ross. Bob Ross’ technique is based around avoiding
the need for fussing over each and every detail in the painting. He
occasionally breaks out the thin brush for a few accents at the end, but
it’s all about using the physical properties of the paint to create the
physical effects organically.
Watching him do mountains is a great example. The texture kinda just falls out of the knife.
